Nigerian striker Gift Orban has scored his seventh Serie A goal of the season. His tally makes him the joint third-highest scorer in the league. The goal came during Hellas Verona‘s 3-1 home defeat to Udinese on Monday.
Orban equalised for Verona in the 26th minute at the Bentegodi stadium. He finished clinically from an Amin Sarr assist to make the score 1-1. Udinese ultimately won the match with second-half goals from Alessandro Zanoli and Keinan Davis.
This season’s total matches Orban’s combined output from his previous two matches. He scored just seven goals total for Lyon and Hoffenheim before this season. The striker now shares third place with several other players on seven goals. Only Inter Milan’s Lautaro MartÃnez (12) and a group of players scored eight goals.

So far, Orban has taken 60 shots this Serie A season. Twenty-three of those attempts have been on target. His goal conversion rate currently stands at twelve percent.
His individual success starkly contrasts with his team’s dire situation. The defeat leaves Verona joint-last in the Serie A table. The club has only 14 points after 22 matches. This historically poor record often leads to relegation.
