Seven Doors: Chioma Akpotha discloses how she learnt Yoruba to prepare for movie role

Nigerian actress, Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has revealed how she prepared for her role in the recently released Netflix series, Seven Doors.

In Seven Doors, Akpotha portrays the role of an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king (played by Femi Adebayo), bringing to life a tale of kingship, kinship, family, love, betrayal, and restitution. The role required her to speak fluent Yoruba.

Appearing in a TVC interview alongside her co-star, Femi Adebayo, the actress disclosed that she learned Yoruba specifically for her role in the series.

She said, ā€œI had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors. The Yoruba in the movie was not the regular one spoken in Lagos State, so I had to be very particular about the tone.ā€
