Shettima loses mother-in-law; Tinubu commiserates

Vice President Kashim Shettima has lost his mother-in-law, Maryam Albishir.

Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, announced in a statement on Monday morning that Albishir, 69, passed away in Kano on Sunday evening after a prolonged illness.

The statement, titled ā€˜VP Shettimaā€™s Mother-In-Law Passes Away,ā€™ read: ā€œHajiya Maryam, the mother of the Vice Presidentā€™s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, will be laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Kano, in accordance with Islamic traditions.ā€

The Presidency described Albishir as an exemplary and kind-hearted mother in her community and a devoted Muslim.

ā€œShe was respected for her wisdom, compassion, and dedication to charitable causes. Many remember her as a source of guidance and support, both within her family and in the wider community in Kano.ā€

ā€œThe nation extends its condolences to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hajiya Nana Shettima, and their family during this difficult time while appreciating the life and legacy of the late Hajiya Maryam Albishir.ā€

Tinubu Condoles with Kashim Shettima

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to Shettima and his family, describing the passing of Hajiya Maryam as a deeply painful loss.

The President not only mourns the deceased but also celebrates her legacies of philanthropy and good virtues.

While praying for the repose of the soul of the late Hajiya Maryam, Tinubu urged the family to take solace in the remarkable life the departed matriarch lived.
