Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko has warned fans and the public to stop calling her daughter “Duduke.”
The request came during a recent interview where she explained that the name “Duduke” was not meant to be her child’s name but was inspired by a song she released in 2020.
Simi, who is married to musician Adekunle Gold, revealed that the name “Duduke” came from a song she sang while pregnant with her daughter, Adejare.
The song became very popular and connected with many people, especially mothers.
After the birth of Adejare in June 2020, many fans started calling her by the song’s title.
However, Simi said this was never the child’s name.
She shared that “Duduke” was simply a sound used in the song to represent the beat of her heart and did not have any real meaning.
The singer said she does not like when people call her daughter by that name, even though she understands that fans mean well.
She asked that the public respect her daughter’s real name and identity.
