Simon Guobadia speaks out after divorce, deportation: “I was targeted from day one”

Nigerian-American entrepreneur Simon Guobadia has opened up publicly for the first time since his highly publicized split from Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams and his recent deportation to Nigeria due to immigration complications.

In an interview with Page Six, Guobadia claimed he was manipulated and taken advantage of in his brief marriage to the reality TV star. “I was targeted. This was a $5 million rehab project I took on,” he said, expressing regret over the relationship.

The couple tied the knot in November 2022, but their marriage lasted just 14 months. Williams filed for divorce in February 2024, citing irreconcilable differences, and their separation was finalized on June 11, 2025.

A U.S. judge upheld the terms of their prenuptial agreement. Under the court’s ruling, Simon must pay Porsha $40,000 per month in alimony over a 14-month period, amounting to $560,000. She was also granted the right to live rent-free in their Atlanta home for the next three years.

While Guobadia has publicly shared his frustrations, Williams described the end of the marriage as a deeply distressing experience. Speaking to People, she revealed that her decision to leave was driven by concerns for her safety and that of her six-year-old daughter.

“I did what I had to do. It was not about infidelity. It was about protecting myself and my daughter,” she said.

The 44-year-old also disclosed that by Valentine’s Day 2024, she had begun noticing troubling behavior. “I had to hire a lawyer immediately to secure my home, my daughter, my future. It wasn’t about money, it was about safety,” she added.

Despite the turmoil, Porsha acknowledged Simon’s role as a positive influence in her daughter’s life and stated she had no regrets about marrying him.

Now back in Nigeria, Guobadia is launching a T-shirt campaign with slogans such as “FREE SIMON” and “NO ICE THIS SUMMER,” aiming to raise funds for prison reform efforts. In a further legal move, he has filed a $75,000 defamation suit against Porsha over claims he describes as false and damaging.

Meanwhile, Porsha has returned to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for its sixteenth season and is set to appear on the upcoming season of The Traitors.
