Afrobeats artiste Skales has responded to the criticism following his recent testimony at Harvesters Church, providing a detailed clarification of his message.

During the service, Skales recounted how his 2015 hit song, “Shake Body,” regained attention online, a resurgence he attributed in part to the young football star Lamine Yamal.

He said the renewed interest in his music inspired him to continue pursuing his career with fresh energy.

After facing reactions on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), Skales acknowledged that his first response to the criticism was made too quickly.

He has now issued a more measured statement to explain his intentions.

The singer stressed that serving God is not limited to those in formal ministry.

He noted that professionals, including musicians, athletes, teachers, and filmmakers, can also make meaningful contributions through their work.

Sharing personal experiences of faith, he said, is valid regardless of one’s role in the church.

Skales reaffirmed his commitment to publicly acknowledging God’s role in his life and career, noting that believers have different callings and that expressing gratitude for God’s influence in one’s journey is entirely appropriate.

He tweeted: “I may have responded too quickly to the concerns raised about my crossover testimony at Harvesters Church. After sitting with it, I felt it was important to respond again, this time with more clarity and less emotion, for the sake of the Body of Christ.

“As children of the Lord, we all have our part to play. Those who believe in the Word but are not in the pulpit do not have a lesser calling, just a different assignment. I will never believe that testifying about what my God has done for me is wrong.”
