Nigerian comedian and reality TV star DeeOne has asked the Federal Government to look into the financial dealings of non-governmental organisations operating in the country, claiming that some are being used for criminal purposes.
The call was made on January 15, 2026, through a video he posted on his Instagram page, where he raised concerns about how certain NGOs are allegedly serving as cover for illegal activities.
DeeOne claimed that some organisations registered as NGOs are being used to channel funds into terrorism, kidnapping, child trafficking and other violent crimes affecting different parts of Nigeria.
He said the situation has become alarming and requires urgent attention from authorities.

He also questioned the sudden rise in wealth of some NGO founders, stating that it has become common to see individuals set up organisations and shortly after begin to live as multimillionaires.
According to him, while making money is not wrong, it should not come from activities that endanger lives.
The entertainer called on the government to carry out a nationwide audit of NGO accounts to ensure that funds are properly tracked and used for lawful purposes.
He said such an investigation will help expose those abusing the system.
DeeOne added that many NGOs are genuinely committed to humanitarian work and deserve support, but warned that the actions of a few bad actors could damage public trust and worsen insecurity if left unchecked.
“Federal Government of Nigeria, please investigate all the NGO accounts in the country,” he said.
“A lot of them are being used to sponsor terrorism, for kidnappers, child trafficking sponsorship. A lot of them are being used for human harvesting sponsorship.”
“In Nigeria today, if somebody should rescue somebody, the next thing the people will open an NGO, and the next thing they become a multimillionaire,” he said.
“We’re not saying you should not make money, but it has to be legit, not at the expense of people’s lives.”
