Nigerian singer Spyro has spoken openly about the challenges of maintaining his Christian values in the entertainment industry, despite the lure of wealth and fame.
Taking to social media, the Who’s Your Guy crooner explained that it is easy for people to profess love for God when they are broke or have few options. However, he said the real test of faith comes when one has access to money and can afford almost anything.
Spyro disclosed that the past two years have been spiritually testing for him, as financial success brought several tempting opportunities. He revealed that he had to turn down endorsement deals worth millions of naira because they clashed with his Christian beliefs.
“It’s easy to claim to love God/serve him when we don’t have because our options are very limited and we are only being transactional with him. I think the real test of loving God is when you now have so much, can afford anything and still say NO to SIN,” he wrote.

The singer described some of the offers as “Antichrist” and admitted that rejecting them was not an easy decision.
Beyond endorsements, Spyro also lamented the lack of corporate support for his music shows. He said most brands avoid associating with what he calls “the Jesus brand,” leaving him to personally fund his events.
“Turning down endorsements worth several millions because they are Antichrist ain’t easy. Sponsoring my shows myself because most brands don’t wanna associate with the Jesus brand is hard. And in all of these, the family (Christians) that should cover are my greatest enemies,” he added.
