Super Falcons retain 45th position in latest FIFA rankings


Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons have retained its position in the latest FIFA rankings, NRTC reports.

The women’s ranking is done every three months which is unlike the men’s ranking which is conducted monthly.

According to the ranking released on Friday, nine-time African champions Super Falcons of Nigeria maintained its 45th position in the World and first in Africa.

Reigning African champions Banyana Banyana of South Africa is placed in the second position in Africa. Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, Black Queens of Ghana and Ivory Coast complete the top 5 in Africa.

Earlier in the year, Nigeria qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup after finishing fourth in the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The next FIFA ranking will be done in the new year. The Super Falcons will hope to improve upon their current ranking before the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
