The Nigerian singer-songwriter said, ā€œIn Nigeria, if you have a tattoo on your neck, you canā€™t work anywhere. I canā€™t work for any company. I canā€™t sell anything.ā€

He also spoke about his ā€œsudden stardom,ā€ stressing that his rise in the music industry was not an ā€œovernight successā€ as it seems.

ā€œYou have to understand: I got there in two years, but Iā€™ve been working for years. People are counting the days youā€™re successful. They donā€™t count the days youā€™ve been working towards it. Nobody gives a fvck about that,ā€ Asake said.
