Teachers are bedrock of civilisation – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described teachers as the bedrock of civilisation, praising their resilience and commitment to educational development.

Adeleke stated that Osun had risen from 33rd to 7th position in national examinations since 2022, attributing the remarkable improvement to the dedication of teachers across the state.

He commended their unwavering support for his administration, especially in the education sector.

The governor expressed gratitude to workers and affiliate unions for endorsing his second-term bid, stating that the gesture had further motivated him to intensify the implementation of his five-point agenda, with workers’ welfare as its top priority.

Reaffirming his commitment to the service of Osun State, Adeleke assured workers—particularly teachers—that his administration would address all outstanding concerns.

He pledged to prioritise their welfare by improving working conditions and creating a more conducive learning environment in schools.

He further directed the Commissioner for Education, Sunday Eluwole, and the Head of Service, Ayanleye Aina, to promptly address the issues raised by workers for immediate implementation.

Meanwhile, Adeleke received fresh endorsements from the Osun State Butchers Association and the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

During separate courtesy visits, both groups lauded the governor’s performance and delivery of democratic dividends in a manner they said was unprecedented in the state’s history.

They pledged their full support for his re-election.

The NUT State Chairman, Babalola Isaac, who led a delegation of senior union officials, described the last two years of Adeleke’s administration as “a period of responsible and people-oriented leadership.”

He affirmed that Osun was making progress, particularly in education.

“We can confirm that Osun is moving forward. In the education sector, we are witnessing successes on multiple fronts.

The latest is Osun’s rise to 7th place in national examinations, up from 33rd in 2022. This is a clear testimony to good governance,” he stated.

Chairman of the Butchers Association, Amoo Adeowo, accompanied by hundreds of members, declared unanimous support for Adeleke’s re-election.

Speaking in Yoruba, he vowed that no effort would be spared to return the governor to office in 2026.

“Osun will not regress in growth and development. No one will be allowed to drag our state back into underdevelopment,” he declared.
