The final day drama in the English Premier League

An evening to remember it was for fans as English Premier League teams played their final round of matches for the 2019/2020 season on Sunday with all games kicking off at the same time.

It was an action packed evening on Super Sunday, as it is commonly called. As much was still left undecided before kick-off.

Fight for Champions League Places in the Premier League

Leicester City welcomed Manchester United to the King Power Stadium as what was considered by most as the biggest game of the evening. Both teams fought out a top 4 finish and the visitors emerged as the winner, as they hit 2 past the Foxes and kept a clean sheet as well.

Ending their season in 3rd position. Leicester City had to settle for a 5th place finish, getting them a spot for next season’s Europa League.

Goals from Mason Mount and Olivier Giroud just before half time against Wolves secured a sixth home win in a row for The Blues, guaranteeing them a place in the Champions League next season as they finished 4th. Wolves, however, needs Chelsea to win their FA cup tie against Arsenal for them to have a chance in next season’s Europa League.

Watford and Bournemouth lost the relegation battle in the Premier League

Watford was unable to stage a comeback against the home side Arsenal as they ended their season with a 3-2 loss, relegating after 5 straight years in the top flight. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored 2 and set up Kieran Tierney, giving Arsenal a 3 goal lead early on.

Aston Villa had hopes of ending their season with a win over West Ham as captain Jack Grealish gave the away side a lead in the 84th minute but Yarmolenko’s goal canceled out the lead a minute after, playing out a draw which was enough for Villa to stay up.
