TikTok introduces audio and media sharing in DMs

TikTok has expanded its direct messaging (DM) features, allowing users to send voice notes, as well as multiple image and video attachments.

The update adds one-minute audio recordings, activated by holding the microphone button in the message composer. Users can also lock, delete, or cancel recordings.

In addition, TikTok now supports up to nine images or videos in a single message, either uploaded from the camera roll or captured in-app.

Report states that new safety rules apply: media cannot be sent as an initial DM request, and messaging is restricted to users over 16.

Over the past year, TikTok has steadily built its messaging tools, adding group chats, broadcast channels, and live-stream DMs to meet rising demand.

These latest features align TikTok with other popular messaging platforms, offering creators and users more flexibility for private communication.
