Times Portable was Caught in Controversies (Pt2)

There is no end to the controversies of singer, Habeeb Okikiola aka Portable. Since the release of his hit song, ‘Zazoo Zeh’, he has been in several dramas. Let’s take a look at some of the other controversies he has been involved in.

Campaign for APC

In the build up to the Osun state governorship elections recently, Portable was contracted to campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC). The singer revealed that he was paid and he was going to do his job amicably.

The next day, he took to the streets with the APC flag held behind him. He rode on the top of a vehicle, pulled his trousers revealing his underwear, with the image of Nigeria’s foremost hero, Obafemi Awolowo behind him.

His action was condemned by Nigerians who felt he disrespected the memory of the late Awolowo. After APC lost the elections, the singer celebrated with the winners – Peoples’ Democratic Party. He even composed a song for the governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke.

Link with cultism

The singer claimed that he was receiving threats from some people. In reaction to the threats, he said that he is the leader of the dreaded gang, One million boys and Ajah cult boys. Hence, no one can threaten him.

The Nigeria Police Force summoned him for questioning which made him retract his statement. He later said what he meant was that he had one million fans.

Headies disqualification

In his recent controversies, the singer was disqualified from the Headies Award due to the death threats he issued to other nominees in the same category as him.

While reacting to the news, the singer seemed not to care as he spoke about his achievements. He later apologized for his actions.

It is pertinent to note that the singer has also been involved in other controversies including ordering some boys to beat up a supposed friend of his, whom he fell out with in Ota, Ogun State. After that incident, his driver had used his car to kill someone while he was on an errand for the singer.

Portable has been advised to get a proper management who will handle his career properly. There are assumptions that his career would soon hit the rocks due to his unending controversies.
