President Bola Tinubu has implemented new directives aimed at reducing the cost of governance, limiting Ministers, Ministers of State, and Heads of Federal Agencies to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys.
In a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President emphasised that no additional vehicles will be provided for their movements.
This cost-cutting initiative was formally announced in a statement signed by President Tinubu today.
Earlier in January, he took significant measures to curb government spending by cutting down his entourage on foreign trips from 50 to 20 officials, and limiting local trips to 25 officials.
Additionally, he reduced the Vice President’s entourage to five officials for foreign trips and 15 for local journeys.

In today’s directive, President Tinubu also mandated that all ministers, ministers of state, and heads of agencies can have a maximum of five security personnel assigned to them.
This security detail will consist of four police officers and one officer from the Department of State Services (DSS), with no additional personnel allowed.
Furthermore, the President has instructed the National Security Adviser to collaborate with Military, Paramilitary, and Security Agencies to assess and implement appropriate reductions in the deployment of vehicles and security personnel.
All affected officials are required to comply with these new measures immediately, highlighting the urgency and importance of these changes.
