President Bola Tinubu has appointed Shamseldeen Ogunjimi as the Acting Accountant General of the Federation (AGF).
Bayo Onanuga, Tinubuās spokesperson in a statement on Tuesday said the appointment takes immediate effect following the pre-retirement leave of the incumbent AGF, Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein.
The announcement ensures a seamless transition in managing Nigeria’s treasury while consolidating ongoing treasury policy reforms under the Tinubu administration.
Mr Ogunjimi, a seasoned career civil servant with over 30 years of experience in financial management across both public and private sectors, was previously the Director of Funds at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
He also served as Director of Finance and Accounts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A certified chartered accountant and fraud examiner, Mr Ogunjimi holds a Bachelorās degree in Accountancy and a Masterās degree in Finance and Accounting.
He is also a chartered stockbroker and a chartered security and investment specialist.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in Mr Ogunjimi’s ability to lead the office effectively.
āThe Office of the Accountant General of the Federation is pivotal to our nation’s treasury management operations. Mr Ogunjimi’s wealth of experience and notable competence will ensure the continued effectiveness of this vital institution as we advance our economic reform agenda,” the President said.
The President also commended Madein for her dedicated service, noting her contributions to Nigeriaās financial management system.
Madein, who will officially retire on March 7, 2025, after reaching the statutory retirement age, has been lauded for her selfless service to the nation.
