President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the establishment of the National Health Fellows Programme, aiming to engage young Nigerian fellows in all 774 local government areas across the nation.
This initiative underscores his commitment to upgrading existing primary healthcare centers and constructing over 8,800 new ones throughout the country, ensuring accessible and high-quality healthcare delivery.
Furthermore, new social accountability mechanisms will be implemented.
Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, stated that well-trained fellows will act as fiduciary agents to monitor and assess the development and performance of Primary Healthcare Centers.
Their efforts will be diligently measured against all financial inflows to these centers nationwide.
