President Bola Tinubu has expressed sorrow over the tragic explosion in Ibadan on Tuesday night, the capital of Oyo State.
Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, conveyed this in a statement to the press. The blast resulted in two fatalities, 80 injuries, and extensive damage to buildings, vehicles, and other properties.
Expressing concern, the President remarked on the alarming attribution of the explosion to illegal mining activities.Ā

He called for the identification and punishment of those responsible for the unacceptable and reckless conduct leading to this unfortunate incident.
President Tinubu extended condolences to the government and people of Oyo State, urging all relevant government agencies to promptly investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Furthermore, the President instructed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to collaborate with the Oyo State Government in providing immediate and comprehensive assistance to the victims.
