Tinubu congratulates Remo Stars on historic league title

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars Football Club on winning the 2024–2025 Nigerian Premier Football League title.

He described the achievement as a major milestone that brings pride to Ikenne and Ogun State.

In a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu hailed the club’s triumph just four years after its promotion to the elite division.

He praised the players, coaching crew and management for their hard work, discipline and resilient spirit.

The President acknowledged the team’s perseverance, noting that their courage in the face of three previous near-misses had finally been rewarded.

Tinubu expressed hope that Remo Stars’ example would inspire other Nigerian clubs to pursue their ambitions with tenacity and optimism.

Tinubu also commended the club’s owner and chairman, Kunle Soname, for his vision and commitment to grassroots football development, citing the construction of a state-of-the-art stadium in Ikenne as a vital contribution to the growth of sports in Nigeria.

With their league victory, Remo Stars have qualified to represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League.

President Tinubu urged the team to approach the continental stage with the same undaunted spirit and focus, encouraging football fans across the country to support the club as they carry the nation’s hopes onto the African stage.
