President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late veteran actor, Usman Baba Pategi, known as Samanja, who passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday.
Expressing deep sorrow, Tinubu acknowledged the significant contributions made by the renowned thespian, retired soldier, and broadcaster throughout his lifetime.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu reflects on Samanja’s dedication to national duty and the lasting impact of his iconic television show.

“The late Pategi responded to the nation’s call when it needed his service. His timeless program, Samanja, served as a beacon of entertainment for decades, imparting national values and instilling respect for our service personnel. He leaves behind a legacy of patriotism and indelible impressions,” he said.
Tinubu offers words of encouragement to the Pategi family, the people and governments of Niger and Kwara states, the Pategi Emirate Council, and the Nigerian entertainment industry. He urges them to find solace in the enduring legacy left by the departed icon.
