Tinubu returns to Abuja after 18-day visit to France, UK

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following an 18-day working visit to France and the United Kingdom, where he attended high-level meetings and a presidential retreat.

According to a statement from the State House media office, his return flight aboard the presidential jet touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 9:50 p.m. on Monday.

Welcoming him at the airport were top government officials, including Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.

Also present was Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu.

President Tinubu left Nigeria on April 2, beginning his trip in Paris before reportedly traveling to London two weekends ago.

While abroad, the presidency stated that Tinubu remained actively engaged with developments back home. He reportedly issued strategic directives to security agencies in response to rising tensions in several states.

During his stay in Paris, Tinubu met with Massad Boulos, the U.S. Department of State’s Senior Advisor for Africa.

His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, shared that the discussions centered on strengthening bilateral ties, boosting regional security, and fostering sustainable economic growth across the African continent.

A major focus of the talks was on supporting peace efforts in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo through multilateral engagement and regional cooperation.
