President Bola Tinubu is set to unveil three major gas infrastructure projects spearheaded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and its partners, as part of an effort to harness gas for economic expansion.
This initiative aligns closely with the President’s vision to capitalize on gas resources to drive economic growth while addressing the issue of gas flaring.
A statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, and posted on his Facebook page on Friday revealed these developments.
According to the statement, the swift completion of these projects since the inception of the administration underscores the overarching goal of enhancing domestic gas supply to fuel economic prosperity.
Outlined below are the projects slated for inauguration:
- AHL Gas Processing Plant 2 (GPP ā 2) ā 200mmscf/d
Expanding on the existing Kwale Gas Processing Plant (GPP ā 1), this project is designed to process 200MMscf/d of rich gas, augmenting the current supply to the domestic market. With the capacity to produce significant quantities of Propane and Butane, it will mitigate reliance on LPG imports, thereby bolstering Nigeria’s industrialization efforts. Developed by AHL Limited, a joint venture between NNPC Limited and SEEPCO, this plant is designed to be a crucial contributor to Nigeria’s industrial landscape.

- ANOH Gas Processing Plant (AGPC) ā 300MMscf/d
Situated in Imo State and integrated with a 300MMscf/d capacity, the ANOH gas plant is primed to process non-associated gas from the Assa North-Ohaji South field. Its output of dry gas, condensate, and LPG is anticipated to significantly bolster domestic gas supply, subsequently enhancing power generation and accelerating industrial growth. The ANOH Gas Plant, developed by ANOH Gas Processing Company, a joint venture between NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Plc, stands as a testament to collaborative efforts in advancing Nigeria’s energy sector.
- ANOH-OB3 CTMS Gas Pipeline Project
This endeavor encompasses the engineering, procurement, and construction of a 36āx23.3km transmission gas pipeline, connecting the Assa North-Ohaji South primary treatment facility to the OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station. Expected to handle approximately 600MMscf/d, this pipeline will play a pivotal role in augmenting gas supply, thereby fostering a conducive investment environment and propelling balanced economic growth.
Upon their inauguration, these projects are designed to inject approximately 500mmscf/d of gas into the domestic market, birthing a new era of economic opportunity and growth.
