The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has expressed his concerns about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chicago University certificate controversy and various identity questions that have further damaged Nigeria’s international reputation.
Obi conveyed his thoughts during a press conference held at No 3 Gabes Street, Wuse Zone 2 on Wednesday.
The former Anambra State Governor stated that he was deeply troubled as a Nigerian, having closely followed the recent identity crisis unfolding in the American Court System and the controversy surrounding the authenticity of Tinubu’s Chicago State University credentials.
He emphasized that the Tinubu certificate saga has led to a negative perception of Nigerians by outsiders, making them appear as potential fraudsters, forgers, or identity thieves.
He argued that this controversy was unnecessary and avoidable, and it has caused significant global embarrassment.
Obi further urged President Tinubu to have prevented the prolonged embarrassment and anxiety, even though it may be late at this point.
