Sunday evening’s display was a very commanding one from the Liverpool perspective and there are key talking points from the game.
NRTC assesses three key takeaways from the Premier League outing.
1. Arne Slot has taken little time to settle in
Slot made it clear from the start that he would carve his own path, steering away from the gestures and traditions of his predecessor.
The Dutch manager was greeted with a subdued reception from supporters, who were unsure of what to expect on a cold afternoon at Anfield.
Despite the initial tension, Liverpool began the Premier League match strongly, displaying impressive passing sequences that eventually led to a well-earned opening goal against Brentford.
Slot’s response to the goal and the fans chanting his name at full-time was calm and composed. This reflected his distinct approach to the role.
2. Luis DĆaz a menace and Liverpool’s engine in attack
DĆaz shone against Brentford, scoring the first goal and assisting the second with impressive stats throughout the match.
He created five chances, won six duels, and drew two fouls, dominating on the pitch during the game.
DĆaz also had a perfect passing accuracy, completing every pass with 100% precision during his time on the field.
Despite uncertainty about his future and Liverpool’s interest in Anthony Gordon, DĆaz remains a valuable asset. Though not one of the club’s top earners, he is poised to be crucial under Slot’s leadership.
He deservedly won the Man of The Match (MOTM) award for his overall superlative contributions during the game.
3. Special Dominik Szoboszlai pulled the strings & will be key for Arne Slot’s Liverpool
A year ago, Liverpool fans quickly embraced Dominik Szoboszlai as they were captivated by his impressive early performances at Anfield.
Though the Hungarian’s form dipped later, likely due to injury or fatigue, Szoboszlai remains a key player under Slot. His relentless work ethic and desire to stay involved suggest heās set for a significant season.
Despite occasional setbacks, Szoboszlai is always eager to make amends, as shown by his 80-yard sprint to stop Bryan Mbeumo. Liverpool’s midfield could use reinforcements, but their current options – including Szoboszlai – are promising.
