Nigeria women Under 20 team, Super Falconets have advanced to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup in Costa Rica.
Nigeria needed a win after defeating France in their opening match 1-0.
In a cagey affair where, Nigeria started well in terms of possession before the Asian side got into the game. This make it the third win against the Koreans in the three meeting at the tournament.

The Falconets will face Canada in their final group match on Wednesday. Through this match, some players are expected to get some match minutes and correct their mistakes.
The Falconets HAD made their first attempt to score a goal in the third minute through Bashirat Amoo, who tried a long-range effort from a free kick but was calmly saved by South Korea keeper Kim Kyeong-Hee.
Korea almost went ahead in the 22nd minute when Lee Soo-In hit a long-range strike but the ball hit woodwork.
With four minutes left in the first half, Amoo made a long-range strike which went off target.
Onyenezide had five minutes into the second half tried a long cross into the area on the back of a pouring attack but South Koreaās keeper rose high to claim the ball.
In the 82nd minute, the goal which became Nigeria’s second shot on target in the match finally came thanks to a brilliant long-range strike from Onyenezide which flew past the Korean keeper into the back of the net.
Falconets need to be clinical and more creative
No doubt there were many talents in this team but they seeme3d to be forcing the ball.
The Koreans are technical side that would have punished Nigeria but al thanks to our goalkeeper who made two important saves late in the second half before Nigeria finally got the breakthrough.
It now left for the coach, Christopher Danjuma to work on his midfield. There is a need for creativity in that team.
Moving forward, over-hitting the ball and loss of possession could cost them game. Nigeria wasted so many balls immediately they got it.
To improve, the ladies who are now confident are expected to perform better against a better opponent. In this way they will retain the ball, be sure of who to release it and never be afraid to take risks.
As we look forward to the next game against Canada, we expect to see another top performance from Danjuma’s ladies.
