Nigeria’s Falconets surged into the Round of 16 at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup with a dominant 4-0 win over Venezuela.
Amina Bello, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, Flourish Sabastine, and substitute Joy Igbokwe all scored to seal a commanding victory.
Bello opened the scoring in the 16th minute, finishing off a brilliant cut-back from the lively Okwuchukwu. Nigeria’s lead doubled when Okwuchukwu met a corner kick with a thumping header in the 28th minute.

Okwuchukwu, who had previously netted in Nigeria’s 3-1 loss to Germany in the second group game, was pivotal again with her assist just before halftime. She provided a perfect cross for Sabastine, who converted clinically to give Nigeria a comfortable 3-0 cushion.
Substitute Joy Igbokwe added to Venezuelaās misery, scoring Nigeriaās fourth goal in injury time. The result was never in doubt, with Nigeria controlling the match from start to finish.
This comprehensive win earned the Falconets six points and a +3 goal difference in Group D. Their impressive performance ensured their advancement to the Round of 16 in Bogota on Thursday.
Before losing to Germany, the West Africans had earlier defeated South Korea 1-0 in their opening game.
Despite their earlier setback against the Germans, Nigeria bounced back with renewed determination. The Falconets demonstrated their attacking strength and tactical discipline throughout the match.
