Uche Nwosu calls for calm after release

Uche Nwosu

Former Imo State governorship aspirant and son-in-law to ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, has called on his supporters to remain calm after he was released by the police following his arrest inside a church on Sunday.

Nwosu was arrested by the police in a manner that led many to believe that he was abducted at the St. Peterā€™s Anglican Church, Eziama-Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, during the outing service for his late mother.

The heavily-armed security operatives had stormed the church with high-powered security vehicles and shot sporadically into the air before arresting Nwosu whom they forced into their vehicle and whisked to an unknown destination.

As eyewitnesses posted videos of the arrest claiming that he was abducted, the State Police Command came out with a statement that he was actually arrested and not kidnapped. But a few hours later, Nwosu was released and in a statement confirming his release issued by his media aide, Nwosu said his supporters should be calm as he did did not spend a night in custody.

ā€œI have spoken with him and he extended his greetings to all of us out there. While we await police report on why the abduction and arrest, we call on everyone to remain calm and focused because God is in charge of the whole situation,ā€ the statement read.

ā€œThe act of desecrating the House of God we all know is a direct affront and challenge to God Almighty. We leave God to do his fight because vengeance is of God but to all Christians, does it now mean that the Government has no more respect for God, and does it now mean that the House of God is no more a place one can take refuge? God prove your answers.ā€

The arrest of the former chief of staff had created panic in the community as it was the outing service of his late mother who was laid to rest on Wednesday 22nd December 2021.
