Udinese announce capture of Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye


Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has joined Italian Serie A outfit Udinese from Watford on a four-year contract.

Udinese made the announcement on Thursday confirming the 23-year-old joins them in a deal that will last until June 2027.

On their official website, Udinese described Okoye as an “explosive goalkeeper, gifted with great physicality and excellent technique.”

The goalkeeper has tangible experience at senior level as he boasts international experience with the Nigeria’s Super Eagles. He also has senior club football experience, playing in the English Championship and the Dutch Eredivisie.

Okoye was born in Dusseldorf, Germany, to a Nigerian family on 28 August 1999. He joined the Bayer Leverkusen youth academy at a very young age.

He later moved to Fortuna Dusseldorf where, in 2017/2018, he played 13 games for the U-19 team and 5 matches with the second team in the German fourth division.

The handsome footballer has also played for Sparta Rotterdam. He made his international bow in 2019 in a friendly match against Brazil.
