Umar, Aubameyang, Akanji and Some of Europe’s Deadline Day Transfers

The last day in the summer transfer window in Europe’s top leagues is always an intense one. Every season, the deadline day of the transfer window witnesses an influx of a lot of players as well as a number of departures in various clubs.

The buildup to this day is not without its drama as some players force their moves due to various reasons. During this time, clubs involve in acquiring ‘panic buys,’ basically as a result of inability to land a preferred target.

Fans always anticipate the transfer deadline day as it remains one of the most interesting days of any transfer window.

This is a list of some transfers that were sealed on the last day of the summer transfer window. Good or bad business for each of the clubs?

THE ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

Chelsea

One of the high-profile moves in England was the signing of Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by Chelsea. The striker left Barcelona after spending a prolific few months at the Spanish club.

The Blues acquired his services to help bolster their attack following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

Aubameyang arrives the Stamford Bridge with a whole lot of experience as he is not new to the Premier League system. He scored goals aplenty during his time at Arsenal and still recently played in the league as recently as December last year.

Meanwhile, young midfielder Billy Gilmour has departed Chelsea on a permanent basis, joining Brighton & Hove Albion.

The deal is reported to be worth as much as £7.5 million.
On deadline day, Chelsea also brought in box-to-box midfielder Denis Zakaria on loan from Italian giants Juventus.

Manchester United

Antony is the latest arrival for United. His signature was officially announced on the last day of the summer transfer window. He joins form Ajax for £85 million.
