VDM praises FCT Police for assisting mentally unstable woman to give birth

Popular Nigerian social media commentator, VeryDarkMan, has commended officers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for their timely intervention in assisting a mentally unstable woman who went into labour in Kwali Area Council.

Sharing the story on his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan recounted the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He said, “it happened in the early hours of April 3, 2026, during a routine surveillance operation by officers of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, deployed across the FCT due to heightened security concerns ahead of the Easter celebrations.”

He further explained how the situation unfolded, noting that “at about 12:20 a.m., the officers who were on patrol around Kwaita village in Kwali Area Council suddenly heard loud cries coming from the roadside.”

According to the account, the officers quickly traced the source of the cries and found a mentally unstable woman already in labour.

The FCT Police Command also confirmed the development, stating that it received a report about the situation at about 12:30 a.m., which triggered an immediate response.

In an official statement released on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Unit at the Kwali Division promptly led a team to the scene after the alert was received.

The officers reportedly provided assistance to the woman, ensuring she delivered her baby safely.

Reacting to the act, VeryDarkMan praised the officers for their compassion and humanitarian service. He also pledged to take responsibility for the child’s education, promising support from primary school through to university level.
