Social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan has been arrested by the police in Abuja after publicly criticizing Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) over unauthorised transactions from his mother’s bank account.
The critic had earlier taken to social media to express his concern over what he described as repeated debits from his mother’s account for loans she never took.
In his post, he mentioned that in 2025 alone, more than seven debits had occurred, all marked as loan repayments.
He was however arrested on Friday by officers of the Nigeria Police Force at Area 3 in Abuja, a location near a GTBank branch where he had gone to get an explanation.
His lawyer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest, stating that VDM was apprehended after speaking with the police.

The lawyer further explained that VDM was arrested alongside his friend, C Park, but his mother was not detained.
This arrest followed a previous statement by VDM, where he revealed that he and his mother had visited the bank to request an explanation and to obtain a statement showing the details of the transactions.
VDM’s lawyer has expressed dissatisfaction, calling the situation unacceptable, and reaffirmed that demanding accountability should not be considered a crime.
