Bayer Leverkusen energetic forward Victor Boniface is known for his strength, pace and finishing ability. At 22, the lanky striker has already established himself as a powerhouse in Europe.
When it comes to goals, Boniface is one man you can bank on. No wonder Leverkusen had to swoop in to fight off competition and secure the Nigerian’s signature during the summer and, of course, they are reaping the benefits already.
Boniface scooped the Bundesliga player of the month for August few days ago. The 22-year-old Nigerian had beaten Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies and Kevin Behrens to the award.

Bodø/Glimt & Royal Union Saint-Gilloise
Boniface was acquired by Bodø/Glimt from Real Sapphire on 4 March 2019. Many Super Eagles fans may not know that Boniface was included in the squad for the 2019 U-20 AFCON.
However, he had to withdraw from the squad due to injury. He later went on to make his debut for Bodø/Glimt in September 2019.
With all the potentials and talents Boniface possessed, it was at Union Saint-Gilloise that the young striker came to limelight.
Having signed a four-year deal with the Belgian club on 8 August 2022, he helped them reach the quarter-finals of the 2022/23 Europa League. Boniface struck the ball into the back of the net six times in the competition. He was joint top scorer alongside Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Bayer Leverkusen
After a stunning debut season with Union Saint-Gilloise, Boniface became a subject of massive interest across Europe. On 22 July 2023, he joined Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
The lethal finisher signed a contract until 30 June 2028, claiming the number 22 shirt. In his second Bundesliga game, the Nigerian scored his first league goals when he netted a brace in a 3-0 away derby victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
So far, Boniface has six goal contributions in four games for Leverkusen – four goals and two assists. Before the last international break, he scored twice and assisted once in Die Werkself’s 5-1 mauling of Darmstadt.

There is a lot of promise for the young forward and everything points to a bright future.
