Victor Osimhen impresses on Galatasaray debut, grabs assist

Victor Osimhen nearly celebrated a debut goal for Galatasaray against Rizespor, but it turned out to be an assist.

Replays showed the Super Eagles star had teed up Abdülkerim Bardakcı for the second goal, but he didn’t mind — the party had only just begun.

In a much-anticipated debut, Osimhen’s presence fueled Galatasaray’s 5-0 thrashing of Rizespor on a night filled with goals and flair at the Türk Telekom Stadium. Though he didn’t hit the target himself, Osimhen’s impact was undeniable, playing a key role in Galatasaray’s attacking blitz.

The goals came thick and fast. Former Spurs defender Davinson Sánchez opened the floodgates. His opener was followed by Bardakcı’s goal courtesy of Osimhen‘s assist. Then came Gabriel Sara’s clinical strike, with Dries Mertens adding more flair with a fourth. Barış Alper Yılmaz then scored the fifth and final goal on an emphatic night.

While Osimhen didn’t find the back of the net, his Turkish Süper Lig debut was far from quiet. The Nigerian striker was a constant threat, and the home crowd left buzzing about what’s to come from their new frontman.
