The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2025 has reached a decisive stage as quarter-final fixtures have now been confirmed.
After intense group matches, eight nations earned places in the next round. These include Morocco, Nigeria, Algeria, South Africa, Ghana, Senegal, Zambia, and Mali.

Each team progressed either by finishing top-two in their groups or among the two best third-placed sides. The competition, being hosted again by Morocco, features 12 strong contenders.
All fixtures will hold on July 18 and 19. The matches are spread across Rabat, Casablanca, Berkane, and Oujda.
The four matchups and locations are as follows. Morocco will face Mali in Rabat at 18:00. Nigeria meets Zambia in Casablanca at 21:00.
On the following day, Algeria plays Ghana in Berkane at 18:00. Then, South Africa and Senegal close the stage at 21:00 in Oujda.

Wider importance
Originally set for 2024, this edition was postponed to avoid a clash with the Paris Olympics. However, the delay only increased the event’s standard.
Moreover, WAFCON 2025 serves as a qualifier for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup. Thus, every win pushes a team closer to global participation.
Because of this, the quarter-finals hold more than national pride. They determine which teams stay in contention for international recognition.
Now, eight teams must prove their strength. Only four will continue their journey toward the WAFCON title and global qualification.
