West Ham United’s gaffer David Moyes will exit the club at the end of the season as announced by the club’s management. This comes after two different stints of managerial appointments from 2017 till date.
The Hammers matchday 37 fixture against Luton town represented the club’s final home game at the London stadium and a final chance to say goodbye to the club faithful at their homeground.
In a rather emotional game for both sides, the Luton fans also brandished banners appreciating Rob Edwards and the squad for the massive shift put in over the season.

Luton found the game’s opener as early as the 6th minute via Arsenal loanee Albert Sambi Lokonga to keep their foot in the survival battle.
Successive goals from the starting double pivot in Tomas Soucek and James Ward-prowse was complemented by another from substitute George Earthy who had a difficult premier league debut against Fulham in the 76th minute.
Victory for David Moyes side spelt the manager would go out on a high in the Hammers concluding home fixture for the 2023/2024 campaign.
Moyes speaking about his impending departure claimed “I’ve been away from my family for a long time now, so we’ve had lots of discussions and I think it’s the right decision for both parties. We’ll go our separate ways after four-and-a-half years that have been brilliant.
“I love football, and I want to stay involved in football. I’m one of a small group to have managed over 1,000 games, most of which have been in the Premier League, where lots of good managers come and go.”
The Scotsman first arrived in the 2017/2018 with the club then battling the relegation waters under Slaven Bilic. Moyes’ six-month contract granted ample time to keep the club in the English first division.
Former Manchester City gaffer Manuel Pellegrini took over in the 18/19 season and with the club closing in on relegation yet again, Moyes was re-awarded the job.
Moyes’ second stint with the club has been nothing short of remarkable. His first full season saw him take the club up to 6th place racking up 65 points (there highest ever in a premier league campaign). Followed by a 7th place finish in the succeeding season.
In terms of European exploits, the gaffer led the club to a semi-final berth in the 20/21 season. The 2022/2023 season saw West Ham crowned champions of the UEFA conference league defeating Italian outfit Fiorentina in the final to award the iron benders an European trophy.
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Julen Lopetegui will reportedly take over at the helm next season. Moyes last hurdle is the gameweek 38 fixture with Manchester City at the Ethiad stadium.
