Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, recently revealed the spiritual reason behind his decision to keep his dreadlocks.
In a sermon shared on Facebook, Odukoya explained that his dreadlocks are not a fashion choice, but a divine instruction.
He said that before returning to Nigeria, he asked God if he should cut his hair, and God instructed him to keep it.
Although his sister, Associate Senior Pastor Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun, expressed concerns about the decision, Odukoya remained firm in his faith.
She had questioned whether the appearance might hinder his ability to reach people, suggesting that one must be relatable to bring about change.

After praying, Tolu returned to confirm that God had shown her a vision where Odukoya was preaching with his dreadlocks, confirming that he was meant to keep them.
A few weeks later, Odukoya encountered a woman from Zimbabwe who had been to his church.
She shared a profound story that left him in awe.
The woman described a vision she had back in 2016, where she saw a man with dreadlocks preaching to her, helping her overcome the struggles in her life.
At that time, Odukoya had not yet grown his dreadlocks.
When the woman later found one of his sermons online during a difficult period in her life, she recognized him immediately and believed that his appearance had been a sign of hope for her.
Odukoya said that God’s instruction to keep his dreadlocks was a pivotal part of saving this woman’s life, as her vision had shown him with hair that he hadn’t yet grown.
He reflected on how, if he had cut his hair as originally planned, the encounter might not have had the same impact.
In 2023, Odukoya had previously mentioned that his style of dressing, including his dreadlocks, is spiritually guided, reinforcing that every choice he makes is rooted in his faith and obedience to God’s direction.
