Why we arrested 127 internet fraudsters in Akure – EFCC

Operatives from the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 127 suspected internet fraudsters in Ondo State.

In a statement shared on its X page, the EFCC said the alleged fraudsters were apprehended during an early morning sting operation at a “Yahoo Party” held simultaneously at Signature and Abah Clubs on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Akure, Ondo State.

The anti-graft agency stated that credible intelligence revealed the party was initially scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, 2024, but was later moved to Saturday in an attempt to evade the EFCC’s security and intelligence networks.

“The suspects have provided useful information to investigators of the Directorate. Items recovered from them include ten exotic cars, phones, laptops, a motorcycle, wristwatches, and many incriminating documents,” the EFCC added.

The EFCC stated that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
