Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied backing any plan to impose emergency rule in Rivers State.
This comes amid growing political tension between him and the current state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Wike, who previously served as governor of Rivers, spoke during a media session in Abuja on Monday.
He made it clear that he was not involved in any decision to declare an emergency in the state.
He also said that if President Bola Tinubu had asked for his opinion, he would not have supported such a move.
The tension in Rivers has drawn national attention, with claims that the emergency rule was meant to protect Governor Fubara from possible impeachment.

Wike, however, distanced himself from that explanation and said he had no problem with the governor.
He stated that it was others, who were unable to challenge him directly, that used Fubara to fight him.
Speaking about the state of the crisis, Wike said only the President has the full details and power to decide what to do next.
According to him, matters like lifting the emergency declaration are strictly in the hands of Tinubu.
Despite the growing conflict in Rivers, Wike insisted that he is not the cause of the trouble.
He maintained that the efforts to link him to the emergency rule were wrong and that he has always stayed away from such measures.
