On Tuesday, September 19, Nigerian recording artiste, Wizkid whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun was at the Burberry s/s24 Collection catwalk show at Highbury Fields in London, United Kingdom.

Wizkid has remained one of the most sensational musicians since his emergence in the late 2000s. The singer-songwriter who is easily the most decorated artiste in modern Nigerian music history has maintained his relevance for over a decade.

The singer-songwriter has been an enigma, his superstar status is undeniable and his mysterious personality has made him not only a legend but a charismatic icon who will give his audience something to talk about without actually speaking a word.

Without trying too hard, Wizkid enthralls even the most nonchalant listener. He makes headlines without throwing a tantrum nor deriding his colleagues in the music industry.

Simply put, Wizkid is the most gracious artiste in modern Nigerian music history. His class, elegance and personality is what has made him attain a prominent level that seems impossible for his contemporaries.

Despite winning a Grammy award in 2021, Wizkid’s colleague, Burna Boy has been unable to earn the respect and admiration from fans across the globe; this coerced Burna Boy to title his most recent album, I Told Them…, as a matter of fact, the self-acclaimed African Giant had a song that deliberately derided the Nigerian populace.

Wizkid understands that his assignment is to promote Afrobeats and Nigerian values, he has never for a moment disregarded the opportunity. In interviews, he has spoken positively about the music genre and the importance of the burgeoning generation’s contribution to the Afrobeats movement.

Weeks after losing his mother, Jane Dolapo, Wizkid made his first appearance in public. He was at the Burberry s/s24 Collection catwalk show at Highbury Fields in London.
