Wizkid shades Davido after Morayo tops Apple Music’s 2025 Sub-Saharan Album Chart

Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has taken a swipe at Davido after his album Morayo claimed the top spot as Apple Music’s most-streamed album of 2025 in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Morayo secured the number-one position ahead of Davido’s 5ive, which came in second on the annual chart.

Prior to releasing 5ive, Davido had confidently stated that his project would outshine those released before it—an assertion many interpreted as a dig at Wizkid, who had dropped an album around the same time.

“Album go swallow album,” Davido had boasted in Pidgin.

But after Morayo emerged as the year’s top Sub-Saharan African album on Apple Music, Wizkid posted a tweet that many fans viewed as a subtle but pointed response to Davido’s earlier claim.

Wizkid wrote, “Dem say album go swallow album dem dey ground dey smell now!”

The post has sparked wide reactions online, with several fans suggesting it could revive the long-standing tension between the two superstars.

As of now, Davido has not issued any response.
