In September, the White House had announced Ogwumike as one of the members of the board. And yesterday, she alongside ten others were sworn in officially by Vice President Kamala Harris.

Following her announcement in September, Ogwumike, while speaking to the Associated Press during a telephone interview, said: ā€œBest way to describe it, it feels like its a calling of a lifetime.

ā€œItā€™s something authentic to who I am and what I stand for and what I want to do for service. You can be exponentially impactful ā€” calling of a lifetime for me.ā€

On her part, VP Harris posted on X: “I am grateful for the service of the new members of the Presidentā€™s Advisory Council on African Diaspora Engagement in the United States. @POTUS and I are committed to continuing our work to strengthen our ties with African nations and with the African Diaspora.”
