“You can’t take it away from Tyla…she deserved the Grammy win” – Joeboy

Nigerian singer Joeboy has weighed in on the debate that followed South African star Tyla’s victory at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The award ceremony, held in early February, sparked widespread reactions after Tyla clinched the Best African Music Performance category with her song Push 2 Start.

Her win came ahead of Nigerian nominees Davido, Omah Lay, Wizkid, Ayra Starr and Burna Boy, prompting mixed opinions from fans across social media.

While many questioned the outcome, Joeboy believes the South African singer earned the honour.

Speaking during a recent interview with Jay On-Air, the music star said that although he personally hoped Davido would take home the award, Tyla’s achievement cannot be dismissed.
