You don’t have to fake it till you make it – some Netizens react to Yetunde’s viral video

Some netizens have reacted to the viral claim of a climate change advocate Yetunde Gold who shared a video claiming to have spoken at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.

According to her tweet, “Today at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Never been this nervous in my life šŸ„² I didnā€™t know I was going to speak until the program started so I had to put this together fast. I am grateful for this experience šŸ™šŸ¾”

However, on closer examination, some netizens debunked her claim, asserting that the speech was recorded after the event, or that Yetunde was being economical with the truth.

Alma appears to be the first netizen to observe the inconsistencies in Yetunde’s statement when she tweeted:

Alma also believes that the video of Yetunde speaking on climate was not done when the event was on.

Kelechi Ugonna is of the opinion that what Yetunde Gold posted is a representation of the norms and a way of securing government contracts.

Another user Olufisiayo believes that this desire to appear glamorous is the exact reason there seems to be a direct pipeline from Forbes’ 30 Under 30 to prison.

However, another netizen, Alao Abiodun, believes that this trend is prevalent among NGOs in order for them to get some opportunities.

Similarly, another netizen Abigail Chukwu advises other NGOs to remain trustworthy in order to preserve their reputation.
