“You made Nigeria proud” – President Tinubu commends Super Falcons despite World Cup exit


President Bola Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their performance at the Women’s World Cup.

This comes on the heels of Nigeria’s elimination from the tournament no thanks to a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to European Champions England in the last 16 on Monday.

The president took to social media to commend the efforts of the nine-time African champions.

“I must commend the effort by our Super Falcons @NGSuper_Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup,” a statement on the President’s Twitter handle read.

“Your brilliant performance did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome. You made Nigeria proud on the global stage!”

Super Falcons won one of their three group stage matches at the Women’s World Cup, drawing the other two. Their only victory was against co-hosts Australia in the second group game.
