Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reassured residents of the state that sufficient security measures are in place to ensure a peaceful and seamless celebration during the upcoming yuletide season.
Governor Oyebanji made the statement on Thursday during a meeting with traditional rulers at the Traditional Council Chambers in Ado-Ekiti.
Speaking to journalists afterward, the Governor acknowledged the usual spike in criminal activities during the festive period but emphasised that concerted efforts with security agencies and community leaders are already underway to mitigate potential security threats.
Describing Ekiti as one of the safest states in Nigeria, Governor Oyebanji reiterated his administrationās commitment to maintaining safety and security, both during and after the yuletide season.
He noted that his government is adopting a comprehensive strategy to combat criminal activities across the state.
āWe are combining both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to address criminal elements. While Ekiti remains one of the safest states in the country, we are aware that criminal activity often increases as the yuletide approaches.

āHowever, our security agencies are fully prepared, and we are working closely with security chiefs to ensure a secure environmentā, the Governor said.
Governor Oyebanji urged residents to go about their daily activities without fear, assuring them that security measures are in place and the situation in the state continues to improve.
He called for calm, stressing that both the government and security agencies are working proactively to address any potential threats to public safety.
āThough there are still some isolated incidents of crime, the security situation has been encouraging, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone in Ekiti can enjoy the festive season with peace of mind,ā he added.
