Zanzibar is one of the Indian Ocean islands. It is situated on the Swahili Coast, adjacent to Tanganyika (mainland Tanzania), East Africa.
A Twitter user identified as Zainab Oladehinde recounted how she was almost molested during her visit to Zanzibar in 2021.
A Nigerian lady identified as Zainab Oladehinde has taken to the microblogging site, Twitter to recount how she was almost sexually molested by a stranger and her money was stolen during her vacation in Zanzibar, Tanzania in 2021.
Taking to the social media platform on Saturday, April 16; Zainab revealedĀ that she was traumatized by the experience in the East African country. She stated that she embarked on the journey as a ‘solo female traveler’ and it was an experience that she regrets.Ā
According to Zainab, she went on the journey one year ago, on April 15th, 2021 to celebrate her 23rd birthday.
She mentioned that the incident happened at the Warere Beach hotel in Nungwi, Zanzibar.
In the narration gathered by News Round The Clock, she stated that she saw an unclad man in her hotel room in the middle of the night after enjoying the scenery during the day.

Zainab added that she was not prepared for the nefarious incident that stunned her.
Her opening paragraph reads:
“Itās high time I told my horrible experience in Zanzibar as a young solo female traveler.
This incident happened a year ago in April of 2021 but I havenāt been able to talk about it cause Iāve been in therapy for a year to heal from the psychological trauma of this experience”
She continued:
“has been the most painful and traumatic experience Iāve ever faced in my entire life. In fact! Iām glad Iām still alive today to share my story.
MY 23rd BIRTHDAY VACATION WENT WRONG IN ZANZIBAR, TANZANIA”
In the latter part of her thread, she narrated the incident.Ā
She continued;
“At around 12 am, a few friends and family called to wish me a happy birthday, and then I went back to my room to sleep.Ā
A few hours into my sleep, I started to feel a strange hand touching my breast.ā
Now, this was me sleeping naked on my bed in my hotel room with my doors locked
so this was definitely a dreamā. I told myself and went back to sleep
Some few minutes afterward, I started to feel my hands stroking someoneās p*nis.
At this moment, I opened my eyes to confirm if It was actually a dream or I was in real danger.”
Low and behold, it wasnāt a dream.
There was a naked man lying on my bed and touching me at 2 am in my hotel room!
He started calling me ābabyā and then I became scared cause the room was dark as I had switched off the lights before I went to bed.
Now, I was extremely scared”
Zainab went on to reveal that she reported the situation to the police station located in Nungwi, Zanzibar.
She stated that she was admonished to get an HIV test at the hospital to determine what happened during the incident the night prior.Ā
She explained that the police officers gave her a hard time during interrogation.
Further, she added that the police officers failed to interrogate the suspects but instead concentrated on trying to get her to delete the evidence on her device.
Zainab went on to reveal that the situation traumatized her for a whole year and she had to undergo therapy.
She continued;
“When we got to the police station; I was asked to write my statement which I did.
The policemen asked me to narrate the incident to them and they advised me to go to the hospital to go do a check-up if I was r*ped or not.Ā
They were all speaking Swahili and were asking me questions instead of interrogating the suspects.
When I decided to take a picture of the police station and the statement I had written; the policemen started shouting at me and threatening to delete the pictures I have.
I stood my ground and said I wouldnāt delete any pictures.
The police chief at the Nungwi police station then said he wouldnāt let them take me to the hospital for a checkup if I donāt delete my pictures and videos

In the concluding part of her narration, Zainab revealed that the official Instagram platform of Warere Beach located in Zanzibar has been blocked after she reported the incident.
She wrote:
“The hotel has closed off their comment section on Instagram but I wonāt stop till everyone boycotts this crazy hotel.Ā
The owner and manager said I lied about my experience”
