A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Lagos State, Chief Bode George, has called the White Paper on the #EndSars panel report released by the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as an insult to Nigerians.
Chief Bode George added that the White Paper which was released by Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday was not only callous but insensitive after the government rejected most of the recommendations made by the probe panel it set up to look into the circumstances that led to the killing of protesting Nigerian youths by soldiers at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020.
The White Paper had rubbished the panel report, saying there were lots of inconsistencies in it, and also punctured claims that nine people were killed by the army and the police during the protest at the Lekki Tollgate.
However, George, in a statement he issued on Wednesday, said the White Paper which was released by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was “defeatist, insensitive, lacking the basic tenet of accountability and decency which ought to have guided such sensitive issue as the Lekki tragedy.”
He added that the governor’s response to the panel report with the White Paper was without justice or fairness.
“It is at best plastic and gestural, devoid of genuine human concern and sincere leadership,” George said in the statement.

Continuing, he said:
“The Lagos State Government stands indicted for the unfortunate incident.
“Sanwo-Olu perhaps may be able to bring a decent closure to the blood of the innocent that yet cry for justice by apologizing to the families of the bereaved, pay them compensation and immediately scrap the two illegal toll gates and erect a monument in eternal remembrance of those who were cut down unjustly. Nothing, not even the White Paper will suffice,” he said.
