A middle-aged man, Tumise Abraham, was on Wednesday, sentenced to death by an High Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, after he was found guilty of raping and killing his landlady, Bukola Olanrewaju.
Abraham was found guilty by Justice Monisola Abodunde of raping and killing his landlady at Olorunda Zone 7, Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti sometime in 2019, and sentenced him to death by hanging.
According to an account by a witness which was read by Justice Abodunde, Olanrewaju, a mother of three, was alone at home after her husband had gone to work and the children gone for their holiday coaching when Abraham sneaked into the deceased’s apartment and committed the act.

The convict was alleged to have broken into the womanās room, threatened her with a cutlass and tied her up before carrying out the dastardly act.
āAfter the act, the tenant fled the house, but some of his belongings were found in the room, which suggested that he was responsible for the act,” the account said.
The State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Julius Ajibare, who prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, called four witnesses to prove his case, while the convict did not call any witnesses.
In delivering her judgement, Justice Abodunde found Abraham guilty of the offences and consequently sentenced him to death by hanging.
