On Friday, March 25, 21-year-old Nigerian Afrobeats musician, Rema real name Divine Ikubor released his debut studio album, Rave & Roses.
Rema’s Rave & Roses is coming three years after the youngster released his eponymous music project.
The Jonzing World/Mavins records signee became an instant sensation on the release of Rema EP in 2019.
Rema spoke to a new generation with his voice, personality and avant-garde fashion ideology. He was able to enthrall the emerging Gen Z with his own style of expression.
Equally, in 2019, the Nigerian music industry experienced an interesting transition. New superstars such as Fireboy DML, Joeboy, Tems, Naira Marley and Rema emerged to redefine the beauty of music in Nigeria.
While Burna Boy was in pursuit of his first Grammy award win; Rema was garnering his own army. In the moment where Davido and Wizkid were looking to conquer new worlds, a new coterie of youngsters were in town to put their names on the marquee.

Rema, born in Benin City, Edo State emerged as a rapper and an Alte-singer. He wasn’t initially an Afrobeats artiste, however, the release of ‘Dumebi’ quickly made him a household. A sensation!

Rema is simply a combination of Wizkid and Travis Scott.
He possesses a marketable look that has found a way to appeal with his generation and fascinate millennials.
Aside from his Nigerian roots, Rema has revealed that he was influenced by American superstars, Travis Scott, Juice Wrld and XXXTencion, both of blessed memory.
The leader of the Ravers squad has the swag, charm and lyrical composition that has been able to magnet his generation. It is safe to say Rema isn’t designed to be like any other artiste in the music industry.
Since making his debut in March 2019, he has remained one of the most consistent creatives in the music industry. He released three E.Ps within a year, namely: Rema EP, Bad Commando EP and Freestyle EP.
The sensational youngster has found a way to endear himself into the hearts of his fans across the globe. As a matter of fact, former president of the United States of America, Barrack Obama enlisted his single, ‘Iron Man’ as one of his favorite songs in December 2019.
Rema has also received shout outs from international superstars such as Drake, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, to name a few.
