Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president of Nigeria has denied reports that he was involved in an auto crash on Monday morning.
Reports had emerged on social media that Osinbajoās convoy was involved in a crash along airport road Abuja.
Debunking the claim, his statement reads:
“Shortly after, Osinbajo himself debunked rumours of being involved in a car crash via his Twitter account.
He tweeted that his security and medical teams only assisted in removing the victims of a car crash he witnessed and that the victims have been transported to the Airforce Base hospital in Abuja.
But his spokesman, Laolu Akande; said the VP only stopped at the scene of the incident to lend assistance to a citizen who was involved in an auto crash.”
Osinbajo’s spokesman and media aide, Lanre Akande has also released a statement on his Twitter page to further debunk the claim.

He wrote:
āOn his way to the airport this morning, VP came across a road traffic accident, stopped to lend assistance, & ensured the victim was taken to the hospital with VPās convoy ambulance.
āHe then proceeded on his trip and is now in Ondo State heading to site of yesterdayās attack in Owo.ā
